ANCR New Publication

ANCR have recently published The survival of cancer patients diagnosed 1964-2003 in the Nordic countries
Five-year relative survival and excess mortality for shorter interval after diagnosis are calculated for 39 cancer sites
and two summary groups in eight 5-year calendar periods 1964-2003 with follow-up through 2006. The project is
published in Acta Oncologica 2010 issue 5 in 13 papers.
Papers can freely be downloaded. A more detailed description of the project and a list of the papers with links can be

Issue 5 also includes a paper describing NORDCAN, the database used for the study.
NORDCAN is a Nordic tool for cancer information, planning, quality control and research.

Cancer in Spain

A Supplement of Annals of Oncology is now available on-line:

In the Editorial of the monograph, J. M. Borras and J. Baselga present the joint effort of all Spanish
population-based cancer registries resulting in providing a systematic analysis of cancer incidence
trends and a review of changes in risk factors, mortality trends and screening activities nationwide.

ENCR Steering Committee Meeting
The 42nd meeting of the ENCR Steering Committee will be held on 6th November 2009 in Turin, Italy.
Any issues to include in the Agenda may be sent to encr@iarc by 4th November at the latest.
